Filter Bag Inlet Abrasion Inspection Guide
Damage concentrated near the dirty-air inlet may be related to gas velocity, particle trajectory, abrasion, baffle condition or bag-to-cage contact.
Inspection Points
- Location and direction of wear
- Inlet baffle and distribution plate condition
- Local velocity and dust loading
- Particle hardness and size
- Bag spacing, cage fit and contact points
Corrective action may involve system changes as well as media or construction changes. A filter bag alone cannot correct every inlet-distribution problem.
